WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) joined a press conference highlighting the success of President Trump’s crackdown on crime in the nation’s capital. At the beginning of the press conference, Anna Giaritelli, a reporter at the Washington Examiner, shared her own tragic experience of being violently attacked and sexually assaulted in broad daylight in Washington, D.C. “When you talk to people that are living or working in areas where they have higher crime rates, you will hear them say, ‘I'm hopeful President Trump looks at what is happening here.’ If your local leaders are going to fail and not accept that responsibility to keep their community safe, then it is going to be up to the President to bring that attention to that city. In all of this discussion about crime, I have not talked to one single person that wants a gang to move into their neighborhood. They don't want a gang to have a hub or a house in their neighborhood. They don't want drug dealers, human traffickers, sex traffickers, pedophiles, [and] predators moving into their neighborhood. What they do want is a neighborhood that is going to be safe for their family, safe for their neighbors, and a neighborhood that is going to allow them to live and enjoy a wonderful quality of life.” – Senator Blackburn
