U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) introduced an amendment to S.2938, the legislative vehicle for the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, to allow for the training and hiring of veterans and former law enforcement officials to serve as school safety officers.
“Violence against children is among the most heinous crimes imaginable. We must take steps to protect our children by increasing the number of school safety officers. This measure will allow former veterans and law enforcement officers to serve their community, help protect schools and keep children safe.” – Senator Blackburn
