Blackburn Statement On Secretary Blinken's Visit To Communist China

June 16, 2023

U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) released the following statement on Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s trip to Beijing:

“There is no reason for Secretary Blinken to travel to Communist China with no set goal other than to appease Beijing. Xi Jinping has already made his priorities crystal clear: he wants to dominate the U.S., and a meeting will only give his party more ammunition to embarrass us on the world stage. It’s telling that Secretary Blinken has been so determined to reschedule this trip after the CCP violated our sovereignty and sent a spy balloon to collect sensitive information on our military assets. And if that’s not enough, the CCP admitted last week to setting up bases in Cuba to surveil us. The last thing that the Biden administration needs to do now is apologize, or worse, attempt to work with them on John Kerry’s climate agenda. President Biden should instead focus on building a strong military that can compete with the CCP’s quest for global domination.” – Senator Blackburn
