WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) released the following statement after attending the White House event where President Trump posthumously awarded Charlie Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom on what would have been his 32nd birthday:

“Charlie Kirk wasn’t just a champion for the conservative movement, he was my friend,” said Senator Blackburn. “Charlie had an unmatched passion for our country that inspired millions of young Americans to stand up for their conservative values. He fearlessly spoke the truth, championed respectful debate, and loved his family more than anything. Today would have been Charlie’s 32nd birthday, and I can’t think of a more fitting tribute than the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor. It was a privilege to attend the White House ceremony to honor his life and speak with his precious parents. As President Trump made clear today, Charlie’s legacy will never be forgotten.”

Last week, Senator Blackburn co-sponsored legislation to establish the ‘Charlie Kirk Patriot Way’ in Washington, D.C. to honor the legacy of Charlie Kirk.
